Optical Assembly and Optomechanical Components (WebFX Draft)

Our optomechanical design engineers are experts in high-res, diffraction-limited lens systems. Using the most innovative in-house metrology, we offer unmatched precision optomechanical lens assembly and ensure performance with our testing protocol. We’ll also perform routine check-ups on your product during the manufacturing and assembly stages. The more eyes on your optical components, the more perfect they’ll be.

Optomechanical Design Expertise

The combination of our lens manufacturing process and team of experienced optical engineers enables us to deliver an unparalleled design experience to our customers. Whether you’re searching for a global custom lens manufacturer for high-volume lens production or special designs, we have you covered.

Our optomechanical design process features custom optical assembly and premium components. With more than 55 years of experience, we make sure our methodology, design and production practices are perfected at every step. We can deliver the laser optics solutions you need for your project seamlessly, affordably and fast.

Optomechanical Assembly Best Practices

Shanghai Optics operates three optomechanical manufacturing shifts per day in our 24,000-square-foot optical assembly department, including:

  • 100 optomechanical assembly stations
  • Five vertical alignment stations with air-bearing rotary tables (opto-alignment)
  • A clean room with a Laminar Flow Table (class 100) and optical isolation table

We follow a four-step process that allows us to reach maximum efficiency. When we take on your project, we’ll carefully carry out each of the following four phases:

  1. Target bonding: We’ll carefully craft your laser optics components with our fine lens manufacturing process. Target bonding allows us to create your product with most exact measurements.
  2. Component polishing: Before your components go into optical assembly, we can polish them to ensure that they’re smooth and perfect.
  3. Optical assembly engineer: An optical assembly engineer will inspect every component and review the optomechanical design plans.
  4. Optomechanical assembly: Optomechanical assembly begins and ends the same way — with extreme precision, care and attention to detail.

To achieve high precision and efficiency as well as trouble-free testing, we’ll utilize high-precision optomechanical assembly tools and fully consider all of your assembly requirements during the course of the optical assembly process.

Optical Testing Overview

To achieve and maintain our high-quality standards, we conduct the following tests immediately after the optomechanical assembly stage:

  • TIR value measuring
  • Ensuring the assembly accuracy is 0.5μm
  • Dual band infrared lens interferometer testing
  • TriOptics MTF (Modulation Transfer Function) measurement station
  • Temperature cycles testing
  • Humidity testing
  • Salt spray test and other environmental testing

Each test serves a specific purpose according to your application.
